RESIDENCY PROGRAM

Visual Arts Residency Program

This program is designed for emerging and mid-career visual artists seeking a stimulating and supportive environment to gain new perspectives on their practice. The program emphasizes experimentation, risk-taking, and innovative approaches to art.

Set in the heart of Mexico City, the residency immerses participants in one of the world’s most dynamic art scenes. Through weekly excursions, studio visits, and exchanges with the local art community, residents engage with the city’s diverse cultural landscape, fostering dialogue and creative development. Programs are conducted in English, promoting an inclusive atmosphere for cross-cultural exchange and collaboration.
Artists’ dedicated studio time is complemented by curated cultural outings and regular feedback sessions. The program balances independent practice with structured activities designed to enrich each resident’s creative process and strengthen their connections to the local artistic and social contexts.

Residency Schedule

The day after arrival, we typically host a welcome breakfast followed by an introductory meeting. During this meeting, we review the Residents Manual, activities calendar, house rules, and hold a Q&A session. After the group meeting, each resident has one-on-one time with our coordinator to discuss their projects and needs, ensuring a smooth transition.
Every week, we take residents on outings to some of our favorite spots in the city, including galleries, museums, artists' studios, and other cultural destinations. Additionally, residents meet weekly with our coordinator, team members, or guest speakers for group or individual sessions to discuss their work.
The program concludes with a group exhibition in our gallery space, opening on the final Friday of the residency and remaining on display throughout the weekend.
Our residency program is filled with organized activities designed to immerse residents in the artistic and cultural life of Mexico City. As schedules can become quite full, we recommend that prospective residents consider arriving in Mexico City a week early. This extra time allows for sightseeing and cultural exploration, ensuring artists can fully focus on their creative projects during their residency at Casa Lü.
