OUR HOUSE
OUR HOUSE
RESIDENCY PROGRAMS
At Casa Lü, we offer visiting artists a living and working space in an international setting. Each group consists of five artists-in-residence, who will receive continuous assistance and support from our experienced staff. We foster a collaborative atmosphere that encourages the exchange of ideas through various activities. Moreover, residents are welcome to showcase their work in both an open studio and a group exhibition. Many have established professional collaborations and networks during their stay. A residency at Casa Lü can be a source of inspiration, productivity, and a significant enhancement to our residents' artistic practice.

Location
Our residency is situated in the southern part of the city, nestled between the vibrant neighborhoods of Roma and Condesa and the charming districts of San Ángel and Coyoacán. We are in proximity to the serene and verdant 'Parque Hundido' park, offering picturesque running paths and artistic recreations of pre-Columbian stonework. While predominantly residential, the neighborhood also boasts a selection of restaurants, cafes, and shops. The convenience of nearby subway and metrobus lines facilitates easy navigation throughout the city.
Accommodation
We accommodate five residents per group, providing a shared studio space for four individuals and one private studio. The residency house features a kitchen, living room, garden, and all bedrooms come with ensuite bathrooms. Linens and essential kitchen equipment are provided. Situated in a residential neighborhood, residents are expected to observe the local ambiance and pace.
Visitors or partners are permitted for stays of up to 7 nights. For artist duos or individuals seeking a residency with their partner, children, or family, we recommend exploring our sister residency: EL SUR.

Studios
The shared studio is divided among four residents, providing each individual with a space of approximately 9m2. The window faces east, allowing ample morning sunlight to illuminate the room. Artists are free to choose their workspace based on their order of arrival at the residency.

The private studio measures 12m2 and is equipped with a sink just outside the entrance door. Its window faces west, creating a naturally cool ambiance, with gentle sunlight streaming in during the afternoon.

Residency Schedule
The day following the arrival date, we typically host a welcome breakfast or lunch, succeeded by an introductory meeting. During this session, we cover the Residents Manual, the activities calendar, house regulations, and conduct a question and answer segment. Following the group meeting, each resident is allocated one-on-one time with our coordinator to discuss their projects and individual requirements.
Every week, we organize excursions for residents to explore some of our cherished locations within the City. These outings may encompass galleries, museums, artists' studios, and other notable local attractions. Additionally, residents gather once a week with our coordinator, curator, or special guests for either group or individual meetings. These sessions serve as platforms to discuss their artistic endeavors and prepare for the upcoming group exhibition.
We open our doors twice to the curious public, allowing them to interact with our Artists in Residence and experience their creations. Firstly, during our "Open X Files" event moderated by Amado Cabrales, where each resident delivers a brief presentation of their work, followed by a feedback session involving guests and members of Mexico City's art community. This open studio aims to stimulate dialogue and constructive critique surrounding the residents' creative processes and project ideas. Secondly, during the group exhibition of residents at the program's conclusion.
Our outings, activities, and meetings are all oriented towards broadening the themes and interests in artistic creation within Mexico City, fostering a deeper connection and exchange between the resident artists and the local community.
